Stimulus Check Delay
If you are wondering where your stimulus check is, you are not alone. Millions of Americans may have to wait a bit longer for the money. The reason? It can be traced back to tax filing preparation software. Electronic filers have an option to pay for the service when they file or to have the fee deducted from their refund. For those who chose the later, your stimulus check will be mailed to your tax preparer and then mailed to you. The IRS is getting phone calls from taxpayers about this right now, and we are getting plenty of e-mails about the problem too. If this impacts you the next question you have is probably, "When will the money arrive?" Fortunately the IRS has a mailing schedule based on the last two digits of your Social Security Number, click here to see the schedule.

Question: I've not heard anything of what happens to those folks who had to pay. How will they receive their Stimulas Check?

I am a partner in an income tax service and checked with the irs about the stimulus payments for taxpayes that had their fees withheld from their refund and they said that those people will get their stimulus checks in the mail directly from the IRS according to the paper check schedule on their website. These accounts are coded so that the IRS knows which direct deposits are going to a preparer and which are going directly to a taxpayers bank.
I double checked with the IRS this morning to see if there had been a change and there has not - please let the viewers know this as we get swamped by calls from our clients wanting to know when we are going to send them their checks. If you would like to call me my number is 281-998-7800.
I appreciate your help in getting this cleared up.

I used an e-filing progam on the internet, but my income was low enough that the filing was free. So there was no fee deducted from my return. I didnt actually have a return. I owed $55.00. So I cannot figure out why I have not yet received a return. I had the $55 deducted from my account electronically and understand that I should qualify for direct deposit because of it. Any ideas about why my return would be delayed?
