A Houston Man is and "Angel" to his Kids
Tonight at 6 we told the story of a Houston man with a heart of gold.' Gilbert Garcia raised a dozen kids and they weren't even his own. That's quite a daunting task especially since Garcia is single, disabled and on social security. He took the kids off the street- some were his own nieces and nephews- gave them a home and has devoted his life to raising them. The older ones are working and pitching in to help, but with 12 kids money is always an issue. So we brought in our "'Action 13 Angels" to help the younger ones get ready for the first day of school on Monday. They needed school clothes -so the team from the Falls Parades discount family store outfitted them with cool clothes and gave them gift cards for later use. And what a surprise from Houston's HP - Hewlett Packard gave then their latest notebook computer for the kids to do their home work and for the family to share. The kids were beaming and excited to back to school. As for Garcia, he can now do what he's wanted to do -write the story of his "cheaper by the dozen" family.
We want to say thank you to Fallas Parades, HP, and Gilbert Garcia-all Action 13 Angels.
